If you are referring to the Shanghai bauma CHINA exhibition, its development history is quite interesting. The core story is that it gradually grew from the construction machinery exhibition in Munich, Germany, into one of the largest construction machinery exhibitions in Asia.
Before the 1950s / early period: The German bauma exhibition was originally developed in Munich, Germany.
2001: Entry into China. Messe Muenchen Shanghai was established in Shanghai to prepare for holding bauma CHINA in China.
2002: The first bauma CHINA was officially held in China.
The 2000s-2010s: Rapid development. The exhibition gradually changed from simply showcasing foreign brands into an important platform for Chinese construction machinery companies to present themselves to the world.
2020: Impact of the pandemic. The 2020 exhibition was still held, but its scale was affected. It was subsequently postponed because of the pandemic, and a large-scale offline exhibition resumed in 2024.
2024: A record high. The organizer therefore called 2024 a record-breaking edition. The event had unprecedented popularity; because of the pandemic-related postponement, the crowds could be described as shoulder-to-shoulder and packed beyond capacity.
2026: A major upgrade. 2026 is an important milestone: for the first time, the event will adopt “One Show, Two Venues.” The organizer clearly also hopes to continue the success of 2024.
